South Texas Deer Hunts
Located in southern Kinney County, near
Spofford, Texas, the Salado Seco Ranch totals 6,850 acres of intensively managed
whitetail deer habitat. The ranch was high fenced in 1979, and since that
time the owners have used habitat enhancement, supplemental feeding, and
selective culling to maintain quality genetics, proper deer densities, and
a balanced buck/doe ratio. Each
year the Salado Seco offers a limited number of fully guided hunts for
management bucks scoring in the 120 to 150 class (gross B&C score). These
bucks are typically 4.5 to 7.5 years old. All deer hunts are conducted over
feeders from enclosed tower blinds. Shots are rarely longer than 150
yards, and each hunter will be guided by one of the ranch owners or
employees. A maximum of four hunters can be accommodated per hunt.
